Welcome to Phase 2 Tactical! This is the blog post that started it all, celebrating the launch of the Phase 2 Tactical blog and website. I also have an interesting story to tell and give you a small taste of things to come. This is just the beginning!
Welcome to Phase 2 Tactical! I’m very excited, as this initial blog post marks the official launch of the Phase 2 Tactical blog and website!
Everyone has a story to tell. And in order for me to provide you with a little background about myself, allow me to tell you my story and take you back to a particular time that ultimately changed the course of my life forever. It all started shortly after I graduated from high school.
The Initial Struggle
Like many other young adults fresh out of high school, I was lost. I wasn’t going anywhere in life, wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, and needed some direction.
I had it rough growing up and struggled with various challenges throughout my childhood. After high school, I wasn’t sure what was in store for the next chapter of my life. But I knew I needed to find something soon.
On the surface, I was very obese and out of shape. Naturally, I wasn’t happy with my physical appearance and had low self-esteem. But it wasn’t just my outside appearance that bothered me.
I grew up as an only child without any siblings. And due to various behavior problems and a lack of social skills, I was bullied in school and had very few friends.
In an attempt to avoid social settings and interactions with my peers, I would seclude myself from others and do things alone, like play video games or read books.
Because of this, I lived somewhat of a sheltered life.
Again, I was ready for a change. I wanted to prove to myself and others that I was capable of so much more.
I wanted respect, recognition, and I also wanted to gain new skills and experiences so I could have a better life.
Deep down, I was scared that if I didn’t do something soon, I would be a complete failure in life, letting down myself and those who cared about me. The military seemed to be the logical choice to get me out of the mess I was currently in.
But I wasn’t even sure if I could make it in the military! There were also some people close to me that discouraged me from joining for various reasons. Additionally, I had a lot of misconceptions about the military.
The Turning Point
At some point, I finally came to the realization that in order for my life to change, I needed to step outside of my comfort zone, face my fears, and take a leap of faith. From that point forward, I became determined to do whatever it would take to join the military.
I went out on a whim and visited a military recruiter. However, I ran into another problem. I got rejected initially for being too overweight and also because I was on certain medication at the time that prohibited me from military service.
However, I didn’t let the initial rejection stop me from pursuing my goals and dreams. What ultimately happened is a long story that I will share with you over time. But let’s just say that my laser-focused intensity and determination eventually paid off!
I ended up joining the U.S. Army and serving five years on active duty, including a two year tour in South Korea near the demilitarized zone and a 13-month combat tour in Iraq!
The Transformation
To say that my military service completely changed my life would be an understatement! I’ve gained so much experience and skills that continue to serve me well to this day!
And because of these unique experiences, I now have the opportunity to serve you!
Whether you’re just starting out and looking into joining the military, or you’re a seasoned veteran, I look forward to sharing my journey with you and helping you transform your life as well!
